First signs of materialization of THE DREAM

It was during one of our usual adda hang out evenings that the talk of we "boys" undertaking the final frontier was discussed! It was decided, with great earnest, that we would visit Ladakh during the summer of 2010 - once the highways connecting it to the rest of the country opened - generally after May. And the usual suspects - Santa, Ghana, Lalli and me - agreed that this has to be the time.
Those were the first signs of the long-cherished dream materializing!
It was agreed that by JAN-FEB 2010, major planning of the schedule would be done and by APR 2010, the flight tickets would be booked.
Things were indeed falling into place...

All in my dreams!

Lunch time / Coffee table discussions around the time of monsoons almost always ended up in roadtrips or Himalayan expeditions that my friends or some common friends undertook! A friend's sojourn to the usual weekend getaways of Wayanad or Western Ghats or Pondicherry or a more elaborate week-long trip to Rajasthan or Ajanta-Ellora were all passé by now! Those were the heard-of stories! What fascinated among all these stories were the trips to "The Mighty Himalayas"! Folks who have completed treks / roadtrips in Himalayas were aplenty around me! Their personal accounts would never cease to fascinate me! But the icing on the cake would always be - Trek to Sar Pass, Trek to Valley of Flowers AND last but definitely not the least - roadtrip across Ladakh!

So these 3 adventures (not necessarily in the same order) are definitely on my TO-DO list:
1) Trek to Sar Pass conducted by YHAI
2) Trek to Valley of Flowers conducted by YHAI
3) Roadtrip across Ladakh

Everytime someone returned from one of these 3 adventures, I would start dreaming about how it would be if I ever make it there!

and the dreams continued ...

You are 80% Boyish and 20% Girlish

Just took a test online to determine the nature of my personality. This is what it says:
You have a tough exterior - and usually a tough interior to match it.You're no nonsense, logical, and very assertive.Sometimes you can't understand women at all, even if you're a woman yourself. You see things rationally, and don't like to let your emotions get the best of you.
The test can be taken from here.
Adios!!!

All for a rupee!!!

I head to the office in the same manner as any other working day. In one of the busiest junctions along the way, I stop waiting for the signal. I see 3 urchins trying to earn a quick buck by cleaning the wind screens of the cars at the junction. Needless to say, one of them turns up at my car, and without even asking for my permission, goes ahead with his work - the work of cleaning the windscreen on my car. I try to threaten by saying ‘Hey!!! Hey!!!’, but to no avail. I get to understand that this guy is not going to listen to my words. So, instead of trying to make a fuss of the issue, I stay quite, relenting quite unwillingly. One must admit, that he wasn’t bad at the job. My windscreen wasn’t clean earlier. So the change was pretty evident. Finally, he lands by my side, asking for a rupee. Unable to say no, I give him a rupee!!! This is my version of the ‘Swades’ episode. I realise at that moment that poverty can make you do anything – be it constructive or destructive!!!
Hey, the signal’s green!!! I need to push forward!!!

6 months of hibernation!!!

Just noticed that i haven't been actively blogging for 6 months now. Not that i was blogging every moment prior to that. Just that I haven't written anything in this 6-month period. The first 5 months in this period was nothing short of madness. The last one month has been kinda easy-going, wherein I did find some time for myself.

Will be back soon, writing on all topics that I find interesting!!!

Hectic few days

Just passing through one such phase where 24 hours in a day seems to be like a free-offer tempting you to go for some more. Definitely in need of some time management for myself. Anyone listening?

Attack on Ayodhya

  • Emergecy was imposed in the country in 1975 and the Congress paid a heavy price for it by losing power in the next elections.
  • Congress govt gave the orders for Operation Bluestar in 1984, to storm into the Golden Temple, in an attempt to crush the Khalistan movement. Succeed they did, but with a heavy price. It took more than a decade and a half for Congress to get back to power in Punjab.
  • Bhagalpur in Bihar burnt literally when the Congress was in power. That led to the rise of Laloo Yadav. Congress now is trying to piggy back to power in Bihar with the help of Laloo
  • Gujarat riots, which followed the Godhra train carnage, was considered to be one of the prime factors for the fall of the Vajpayee govt.
  • Undertakings of the Sangh parivar, "destruction of Babri Masjid" is being undone by "terrorists" now. Gandhidham, Raghunath mandir, Ram janmbhoomi are testimony to this.
Isn't the writing on the wall clear for the politicians? Whenever, they meddle with the fragile social fabric of our country, they themselves pay a heavy price. Added to this, is the media, trying to ask every "wannabe-neta" about his personal opinion apart from the viewpoint of his political idealogy. It's not a question about which political idealogy I lean towards. It's a question of the harm that the nation is being subjected to.
It's high time they stop interfering with the social fabric of my country. It's already fractured enough & I wonder if it can withstand any longer.
All this makes me wonder, who is attacking whom.
